Stiltsville or Boca Chita
The cheapest way out is the two-hour Stiltsville Guided Tour at $70, a boat run to the historic stilt houses in the northernmost part of Biscayne National Park. If you've got half a day, the Boca Chita Key Heritage Cruise is $83 for four hours and adds an island stop to the Stiltsville pass. That second one is the better deal per hour, and it runs daily. Both leave from Dinner Key Marina, so you're on the water without a long drive south. For a first trip into the park, either one is an easy pick.
Getting in the water
Snorkeling Biscayne National Park from Coconut Grove costs $115 for 3.5 hours and runs daily, heading to shipwrecks, patch reefs or mangroves. The Snorkel and Island Visit pairs a snorkel with an island stop for $209 over six hours, which is a full day, so plan around it. That one leans educational: the point is learning how the bay's seagrass works, not racing anyone. Ask which snorkel site is planned when you book.
