maman is the Brickell coffee stop when you want the full café ritual: good espresso, the famous chocolate chip cookie, a quiche for lunch, and a room you are happy to sit in.

Why you go

Because it is the rare chain that kept its standards. The coffee is serious, the pastries come from the same playbook as the New York originals, and the nutty chocolate chip cookie is the thing everyone leaves with. The room is pretty without trying too hard, and it works for a laptop hour as well as a catch-up.

When to go

Mornings for the pastries while they are fresh. Lunch is sandwiches, quiches and salads with a line at one. It closes at five, so this is a daytime place.
