Good for an easy all-day meal across from the beach, with a menu wide enough for a whole group to agree on. The trade-off: it's Ocean Drive, so part of what you pay for is the sidewalk seat.

Terrace, sidewalk or lobby

There are three places to sit. Choose from the shaded terrace, the sidewalk tables on Ocean Drive, or the lobby of the Majestic Hotel, a 1940 Art Deco building designed by Albert Anis. The terrace is the pick on a hot afternoon, since the shade is the point. The sidewalk puts you in the middle of the Ocean Drive parade, with the beach across the street and foot traffic passing your plate. The lobby is quieter if you'd like to hear each other. The rating is unusually high for this strip: 4.9 from about 13,100 Google reviews.

What to order

Breakfast runs to omelets, pancakes, French toast and three kinds of eggs Benedict. Doors open at 8:30 am Friday through Monday and at 9 am midweek. Later the menu sprawls: raw bar, salads, pasta, pizza, wraps and sandwiches, with Italian, Latin and seafood specialties. That range is handy for a group that can't agree, less so if you want one thing done exceptionally well. The wine list leans Italian. Prices sit at $$, which on Ocean Drive counts as reasonable.

Late on Ocean Drive

It's open until midnight most nights and until 1 am on Friday and Saturday, so it works as a late stop after the beach or before heading out. The oversized signature tropical drinks are the house specialty, and even the hotel's own site calls them hard to pass up. Ask what one costs before you commit, since big drinks add up fast. Guest reviews mention happy hour cocktails, so ask your server what's on. One more thing: the cafe is run separately from the hotel, which matters if you're staying upstairs.
