What people order

The Eggs Florentine is the house favorite: poached eggs and smoked salmon on a croissant with hollandaise, $19. Close behind are the Pistachio French Toast with strawberries and dark chocolate ($18) and the White Chocolate Chip Pancakes ($15). Hungry? The Big Breakfast ($23) piles on bacon, sausage, avocado and crispy halloumi with hot honey. Steak & Eggs at $32 is the splurge. The kitchen runs 8 am to 4 pm every day, so breakfast is on all day until then. Vegetarians get six marked dishes, and the overnight oats are the one vegan plate.

Cafecito at the counter

A cortadito is $3.50 and an espresso is $3, which is fair for Calle Ocho. The menu leans hard on sweet iced lattes too, like pistachio and strawberry or banana and coconut, all $8. Pastry comes from Bettant Bakery, and the almond croissant is $6. Empanadas go in beef, chicken, ham and cheese, or bacon, egg and cheese: $5 for one, $52 for a dozen, which is the move for an office or a family lunch. The counter keeps serving until 5 pm, an hour after the kitchen closes, so a late-afternoon coffee still works.

After five, it's pizza

At 5 pm the same room becomes Pizza 8, open until 10 pm every night. The dough is a 72-hour biga, sold by the slice ($5 to $7) or as a 16-inch pie ($22 to $29). The hot pepperoni with hot honey and the gorgonzola with pistachio honey are the ones that stand out on paper. Spritzes run $12 to $13 and draft beer is $9. Earlier in the day, the brunch bar does a bottomless mimosa for $29 over 90 minutes, plus espresso martinis and Bloody Marys if your group wants brunch to stretch.
