Good for UM crowds, long lunches and anyone who wants house beer, conch fritters and a band in one place. It's a dependable neighborhood pub, not a destination taproom, and the menu is long rather than focused.

Conch fritters and a long menu

The house brags about its conch fritters, hand rolled with Turks & Caicos conch and cayenne aioli, for $16. The smoked fish dip ($15) and the award-winning chili ($7 a cup, $9 a bowl) are the other starters worth a look. Past that, the menu runs long: salads around $17, sandwiches mostly $15 with fries or salad, several burgers and a real plant-based section with a veggie-cashew stir-fry and bean sliders. It's broad pub cooking, not a chef's statement. Prices sit at $$, and Tuesday's $8 burger meal is the cheapest way in.

Beer brewed on Ponce

Titanic has brewed its own beer on Ponce de Leon since 1997, which makes it one of Miami's oldest brewpubs. Unlike most taprooms in town, it also runs a full liquor bar and a wine list, so the friend who doesn't drink beer is covered. Reviews quoted on its site mention a mug club for regulars and a beer garden out back if you'd rather sit outside. Lunch skews toward UM faculty, staff and nearby office workers. Evenings bring students and the neighborhood regulars who've been coming for years.

After dark

Doors open at 11:30 am every day and stay open until midnight Sunday through Thursday, 1 am on Friday and Saturday. That's late for this stretch near South Miami.
