Island Grill bills itself as the home of the original Tuna Nachos and puts them front and center on its site, so that's your order. Past that, the menu leans on fresh seafood and the catch of the day, with hand-cut steaks and regional specialties for anyone at the table who isn't in a fish mood. Google also files it under sushi and Japanese. It holds a 4.6 from about 4,000 Google reviews, which is a lot of people agreeing on a roadside stop along the Overseas Highway. By car or by boat
Dockage runs 260 feet along a deep-water canal, and the restaurant pitches itself as a boating destination, so plenty of tables arrive by water. Everyone else pulls off US 1 at 85501 Overseas Hwy in Islamorada, which makes it an easy lunch break on a drive down the Keys. Seating splits between a private beach, a deck and an indoor dining room. Take the deck or the beach if the weather cooperates, since the water view is the reason to sit here instead of grabbing something to go. The dining room is your backup when it rains.
