The ramps and the fuel dock

Pelican Island
This 10-acre island is the reason a lot of people pull out of this marina on a weekend. It has covered picnic shelters, barbecue grills, picnic tables and a sand volleyball court. The court has no gear, so bring your own net and ball. It's open to the public, and large groups can reserve it. The county says to contact the marina for rates rather than posting them. Plan on getting there by boat. Pack shade-friendly food, charcoal if you're grilling, and enough water for a Miami afternoon, since the facts list nothing to buy on the island.
