Russian And Turkish Baths
A Russian banya in the lower lobby of the Castle Beach Club on Collins, running saunas, cold plunges and borscht since 1994.
Revisado noviembre de 2026
For anyone who wants a real hot-and-cold banya cycle rather than a hushed resort spa. The trade-off: nothing can be booked, not even massages, so you walk in and take your chances. Adults only.
The Russian Room
The room people talk about is the Russian Radiant Room, the schvitz. It has benches around a rock-walled furnace holding 15 tons of rock on brick arches, heated overnight so it throws intense heat all day. You cool off the old way, with buckets of ice-cold water poured over your head. Around it you'll find a Finnish sauna, an infrared sauna, an amethyst sauna, a Turkish hammam and an aromatherapy steam room. The cold side is just as serious: 34-degree plunges, a cold chamber, a rain room, a hydrotherapy hose and a Swedish shower. The routine is the point. Heat, plunge, rest, repeat.
Oak leaves and walk-ins
The treatment menu leans traditional. There's the platza, an oak leaf treatment, plus a hammam oak leaf version, a Dead Sea salt scrub, a black mud treatment, a soap scrub and regular massage. The house rule is firm: no reservations for the amenities, massages or treatments. Everything is walk-in, so if a particular treatment is the reason you're going, arrive early in the day. Bring cash for tips, because gratuity has to be paid in cash. Keep track of your locker key, since losing it costs a $100 fine, and phones aren't allowed in the safety deposit box.
Borscht, then the beach
There's a restaurant on site serving traditional Russian dishes like borscht and beef stroganoff, with fresh-squeezed juices, Russian beers, wine and herbal teas. Between rounds you also get an ocean-water jacuzzi with a hydrotherapy waterfall, an Olympic-size pool, a gym, a relaxation room and access to the beach, which is a lot for one basement-level lobby. Hours run noon to 10 pm most days, opening at 8 am on Thursdays and Sundays, and the baths say they're open 365 days a year. It holds a 4.5 from about 200 Google reviews.
