A manageable arena for Hurricanes games, Latin concerts and fight nights, with a Metrorail stop right across the street. The trade-off: strict clear-bag rules, no re-entry, and alcohol only at certain events.

Take the train, or pay by phone

University Metrorail Station sits directly across the street, which makes the train the smartest move here. A single ride is $2.25. You need an EASY Card or EASY Ticket since faregates don't take cash, and trains run 5 am to midnight daily. Driving works too: on-campus parking is $2.50 an hour through PayByPhone, and four hours or more converts to an $11 all-day rate. Apps and pay stations take cards only. Park head-in, and know the university wants your plate registered. Enforcement runs 8 am to 11 pm every day, so a night show still counts.

The bag rule and the door

Clear bags only, 12 by 6 by 12 inches or smaller, plus a small clutch up to 5.5 by 8.5 inches. Backpacks get turned away, and so do umbrellas, laptops, water bottles and mugs. Strollers, carriers and car seats have to be checked at the VIP Lobby entrance. Everyone walks through magnetometers, but phones, keys and wallets can stay in your pockets. There's no re-entry, so finish that call outside. Cameras are usually banned at concerts and allowed at most graduations. Rules shift by event, so check the event page if it matters to you.

What's on and what's to eat

Eight concession stands line the second-floor Main Concourse, run by Chartwells: burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, pizza and nachos, plus funnel cakes, shaved ice and Dippin' Dots. Outside food and drink aren't allowed. Alcohol is served only at select adult-oriented events, from full bars on the Main Concourse and Premium Suite Level, so a family show may be dry. The calendar swings wide: Hurricanes basketball, Rumble in Miami boxing on November 7, Cubatonazo's 10-year party on November 14, El Gran Combo on November 27, and the Harlem Globetrotters in April 2027. It rates 4.6 from about 2,300 Google reviews.
