Hotels near Miami International Airport: the one inside the terminal, the shuttle hotels, and the cruise question
Sleep inside MIA or take a free shuttle to a nearby hotel: where the shuttles stop, what parking costs, and which airport hotels go to the cruise port.
En bref
- Closest: Miami International Airport Hotel, inside Concourse E, by Door 11.
- Shuttle hotels: MIA lists 34; pick-up on Arrivals Level 1 at marked doors.
- A few hours only: The terminal hotel sells day-use rooms, 10 am to 6 pm.
- Park and fly: Regency by Sonesta: free 24-hour shuttle, parking $20 plus tax a night.
- Cruise next day: Some airport hotels sell a port shuttle; book it with the room.
For one short night between flights, sleep inside the terminal at the Miami International Airport Hotel; for anything longer, a car to park or a cruise the next day, a shuttle hotel a mile or two away gives you more room for less fuss.

- 23:00You land late · Collect your bags first. Hotel shuttles load at the arrivals curb, so there is no reason to rush ahead of the carousel.
- 23:30Pick your way to bed · For the in-terminal hotel, go up to Concourse E, second level, by Door 11. For a shuttle hotel, go to Arrivals Level 1 and find your hotel's door: 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 15, 20, 23, 24 or 28.
- 23:45Call if the shuttle is late · Ask your hotel before you fly whether you need to call for a pick-up, and keep the front desk number handy.
- 06:00Early flight · From the terminal hotel you walk to check-in. From a shuttle hotel, ask the night before when the first morning run leaves.
- 12:00Check-out · Noon at the terminal hotel; late check-out to 6 pm costs $50 per guest, if available.
The hotel inside the airport
The Miami International Airport Hotel is in the terminal itself, in Concourse E on the second floor, at Door 11. Its own page describes direct access to the ticket counters and departure concourses. Check-in is at 3 pm and check-out at noon. Early check-in from 10 am or late check-out until 6 pm costs $50 per guest and depends on availability.
For a long layover, it sells day-use rooms from 10 am to 6 pm, subject to availability; call ahead. Wi-Fi is free, and Air Margaritaville in the terminal handles meals. There is paid on-site parking.
Two catches. The hotel cannot store luggage, because of airport security rules, so you pay for the airport's own luggage storage if you need it. And you are inside the terminal: convenient, not a resort. It accepts up to two cats or dogs of up to 20 lbs each, at $25 per pet per night.

How the shuttle hotels work
MIA's hotel shuttle page lists 34 hotels with shuttles, from the Embassy Suites and Even Hotel at MIA to the Miami Airport Marriott, Pullman Miami Airport Hotel, Sheraton Miami Airport Hotel and Hilton Miami Airport Blue Lagoon, plus a group of Doral properties such as Element Miami Doral and several Residence Inns. They all load on the arrivals level, Level 1, at curbside zones by doors 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 15, 20, 23, 24 and 28.
Each hotel sets its own rules. The Regency by Sonesta, about a mile out, runs its shuttle free around the clock, and has an outdoor pool open 7 am to 10 pm. Doral hotels sit farther west and suit a business trip or the outlet malls more than a quick overnight. If your hotel is not on MIA's list, assume a taxi or rideshare.
Without a shuttle, Metrorail leaves from the MIA station for downtown at $2.25 a ride, rising to $2.75 on January 1, 2027.
Flying in for a cruise
Airport hotels are a sensible base the night before a cruise if your flight lands late. The Regency by Sonesta has a cruise port shuttle and puts PortMiami at about seven miles from the hotel; its terms are on the hotel's shuttle page and at the front desk. Our guide to Miami hotels with a cruise shuttle compares the packages and their catches, and our airport-to-port guide covers the cruise lines' own transfers.
If you are parking for the cruise, compare a hotel park-and-stay package with the port's own garages before you book; at the Sonesta, self-parking alone is $20 plus tax a night.
Avant de partir
- Note which door your hotel's shuttle uses before you land
- Save the hotel's phone number in case you need to call for the shuttle
- For the terminal hotel, book a day room by phone; it depends on availability
- Ask whether parking is per night or per day, and whether in-and-out is allowed
- Bring a credit card for incidentals; the room rate rarely includes them
- If a cruise is next, book the port shuttle with the room, not at check-in
