Is it safe to park at the port?

The port's own garages are the safe default. PortMiami says all its parking facilities are patrolled by security, and every garage has an attendant from 6 am to 5 pm on cruise days.

The catch is price, not safety. At $28 a day, a 7-day stay is $196 and an 8-day stay is $224, and because the rate counts any part of a day, check your parking time against the return time before you assume the shorter figure.

Off-site lots on the mainland advertise lower prices and a shuttle. We have not checked any of them, so if you use one, look at the operator's own page for insurance, shuttle times and what happens if your ship is late.

Two cheaper places to park off the island

Brightline's MiamiCentral station garage is gated and covered. Brightline lists parking from $10 a day when you book ahead and from $20 a day at walk-up rates, and PortMiami itself names Brightline's vacation service for cruise passengers. From the station you need a short taxi or rideshare to the terminal.

The Miami Parking Authority also lists cruise parking at its College Station garage, 190 NE 3rd St, and the James L. Knight Center garage downtown, at $12 a day with a three-day minimum. Its site refused automated reading, so we read this through search in October 2026; confirm the rate on miamiparking.com before you book. From downtown, the free Metromover runs to Freedom Tower, where the free Coral Way Trolley crosses to the port.
