What Lummus Park is
Lummus Park is the city park and beach that runs along the ocean side of Ocean Drive, from 5th Street to 14th Place in South Beach. The City of Miami Beach lists it at 26.34 acres and open every day from sunrise to midnight. It is named for the Lummus brothers, J.E. and J.N., early Miami pioneers.
Between the road and the sand there is a beachfront path about 10 blocks long, a pavilion, playgrounds for ages 2 to 5 and 5 to 12, and 18 sand volleyball courts. Two outdoor gyms open 7:30 am to sunset: a barbell gym with 13 machines at 6th Street, and Muscle Beach with weight-training lockers at 9th Street. The city runs yoga classes in the park on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Parking is restricted along Ocean Drive itself, so plan on a garage or a side-street meter rather than a spot facing the beach.

Lummus Park
The busiest stretch of South Beach, with the Art Deco hotels of Ocean Drive behind you and lifeguard towers along the sand. The restrooms at 6th, 10th and 14th Streets are the reason to pick a spot near one of those blocks.
Mornings are for the gyms, the volleyball courts and a walk on the path; the city's Ocean Rescue hotline, (305) 673-7714, gives the day's conditions (option 1) or a person (option 2).
BouYah Watersports - Lummus Park
The rental stand on the beach at 9th Street. Its locations page shows jet skis, banana boats, kayaks and paddleboards for this spot.
Prices and hours are not published on the pages we could read, so ask at the stand or book through their site and compare with a rental from the Miami Beach Marina.
