For late-night tacos, a loud group dinner or a tequila nightcap that never hits closing time. The trade-off: after 8 pm the band sets the volume, and quiet conversation is off the menu.

Tacos at any hour

Azteca never closes, which is the whole point on this stretch of Collins Avenue. Breakfast runs 7 am to noon, then the lunch and dinner menu takes over from noon straight through to 7 am. The kitchen leans Mexican comfort food with a Miami twist. The site pitches tacos at midnight and steak and eggs at sunrise, and that's the right way to use it. The best deal is happy hour, Monday to Friday from 4 to 7 pm: $5 tacos and $9 cocktails. Otherwise it sits at $$. The 4.9 from about 5,600 Google reviews is unusually high for South Beach, so expect good and reliable, not life-changing.

When the band starts

Live music plays every night from 8 to 11 pm, a rotating lineup of local acts doing Latin grooves and feel-good covers. Wednesday swaps in Rockstar Karaoke: you sing with a live band, and a good performance can win you a bottle of tequila. Fridays and Saturdays run Fiesta Latina from 8 pm all the way to 6 am, which turns dinner into a party whether you planned one or not. If you want to talk across the table, eat before 8 or come during the day. After that, it's loud by design.

The tequila shelf

The back bar is more serious than a 24-hour taco spot needs to be. The collection runs to bottles like Fuenteseca Reserva 21 Years, Clase Azul Ultra, Código 1530 Origen, G4 Extra Añejo and Ocho Puntas, a high-proof blanco at 55%. There's a tequila flight if you'd rather compare a few than commit to one pour. Prices for the rare bottles aren't listed on the site, so ask before you order the 21-year. Extra añejos like these are never cheap. For everyone else, the happy hour cocktails do the job fine.
