For a honeymoon, a milestone or a few slow days on the sand where the beach feels calmer than South Beach. The trade-off is plain: this is top-tier Four Seasons pricing, and Surfside is quiet if you want nightlife outside the door.

The old club

The Surf Club opened on New Year's Eve 1930 as a Miami Beach society club, and the hotel still trades on that history. Four Seasons opened it as a hotel in 2017, and it now holds two Michelin Keys and a World's 50 Best Hotels listing. It sits at 9011 Collins Ave in Surfside, a short drive north of Miami Beach's busier stretches, so the beach out front stays calmer. Guests rate it 4.8 from about 1,400 Google reviews, which is about as high as Miami hotels get.

Picking a room

The rooms to know about are the bungalows. They sit on the second floor of Cabana Row, just beyond the main building, with private balconies, cabana-style interiors and plenty of natural light. They feel more like a beach house than a tower room. The hotel also rents villas and residences for longer stays or bigger groups, and it markets itself to honeymooners and families alike. Rates change by season and aren't listed here, so check the booking page for your dates before you fall for a balcony.

Pools, spa and dinner

There are three outdoor pools, a spa and three restaurants plus a bar on site, which means you can spend a whole weekend without getting in a car. That's a big part of why people book here. The hotel also hosts weddings and events, so expect the occasional party on a Saturday. We don't have hours for the spa, restaurants or bar, so check before you plan a treatment or a dinner around them, especially if you aren't staying overnight.
