Freehand Miami
A boutique hotel on Indian Creek Drive in Miami Beach, a block from the sand, with a pool and the Broken Shaker cocktail bar out back.
Checked October 2026
For travelers who want a pool, a serious bar and the beach a block away without staying on the loud strip. The trade-off: no on-site parking, and the guest valet rate at a nearby hotel is $55 plus tax.
The backyard bar
Broken Shaker is why most locals know the name. It's the hotel's backyard bar, a brick-lined patio that won Best American Hotel Bar from Tales of the Cocktail, and it pulls in both guests and people who live nearby. Ray's, added in December 2024, is the other bar: a small-town-style room with a disco ball, a pool table, beers, cocktails and bar bites, serving Friday through Sunday. Between the two you can have a full night without leaving the property. Bar hours aren't in our data, so check before heading over, especially for Ray's.
Rooms, pool and the dog
Roman and Williams designed the rooms, and the art on the walls was commissioned from Bard College students and alumni. This is a boutique hotel, so the draw is the shared spaces: the pool terrace, the garden and the bars downstairs. The beach is one block away, about a five-minute walk, and there are outdoor showers for rinsing off. Dogs up to 75 pounds are welcome for a $75 fee per stay. On Saturdays from 10 to 11 am there's a free fitness class by MUV Training, and Nomad's sells coffee and pastries Friday to Sunday, 8 am to 1 pm.
Parking and getting around
There's no parking on site. The workaround is limited valet at the AC Hotel by Marriott at a guest rate of $55 plus tax, first come, no reservations, subject to availability. You may not need a car at all. Free Tesla rides cover anywhere within two miles, bikes are free to borrow, and the Airport Flyer bus 150 gets you to and from MIA. South Beach nightlife is under a mile south, close enough to go out and come back to a quieter block. The front desk is staffed 24 hours.
