Good for a first-timer who wants wheels on the beach path or a guided Art Deco loop without much planning. The hourly rentals are cheap and easy. The prepaid tours come with a strict refund policy.

The rentals

Beach cruisers start at $3.50 an hour, per the shop's own site, and a helmet comes with every bike. You can also take an electric bike, a tandem or rollerblades, by the hour or the day. The shop sits on 14th Street steps from Ocean Drive, so the oceanfront path along Lummus Park is right there for skating or an easy ride. The e-bikes are the pick if you want to go beyond the beach; the shop pitches them for Wynwood and Downtown. Rent between 1 pm and 4 pm and you get an extra hour free. That's the hottest stretch of the day, so bring water.

Tours and day trips

Guided bike tours leave from the shop and cover Ocean Drive, the Art Deco District and nearby parks, with bike, helmet and guide included, in small groups. The Segway tour runs through the Art Deco District down to South Pointe Park, and the e-bike tour is 16 and up. Beyond that, the counter works as a booking desk: Key West day trips, Everglades airboat rides, Biscayne Bay cruises past Millionaire's Row, a Vizcaya sunset cruise, speedboats, parasailing and helicopter rides. The shop says to book weekend bike tours ahead. A 4.9 from about 2,300 Google reviews suggests the guides do their job.

The catch

Every reservation is fully prepaid, and the refund policy is stiff. Cancel 30 days out for a full refund. Between 15 and 30 days you get half back, 8 to 14 days a quarter, and inside a week nothing. Moving your date within 8 to 30 days costs $15 per person. Tours run rain or shine, with severe weather handled on the day, so a summer afternoon storm won't necessarily get you out of it. For a simple hourly bike, none of this matters much. For a Key West trip for a family of four, read the terms before you pay.
