The drag brunch

Drag brunch runs Friday through Monday, and it's the reason most people book. Palace opened on Ocean Drive in 1988, calls itself Miami's original drag venue, and is still an anchor of the South Beach gay scene. The queens perform through the meal, so this isn't an eggs-and-newspaper morning. Tuesdays have had a drag lunch on the calendar too, if your weekend is full. It holds 4.5 from about 4,600 Google reviews, which is a strong showing for a tourist strip. Weekend tables fill with bachelorette parties, so reserve early and expect a crowd that came to scream.

Steaks and $18 cocktails

The kitchen leans grill and steakhouse. The site lists a 12oz New York strip at $39, a 10oz churrasco skirt steak with chimichurri at $37, a full rack of dry-rubbed St. Louis ribs at $33, and grilled or blackened salmon at $31. Signature cocktails are $18: the Malibu Barbie comes with a pink glitter sugar rim, and the Smoked Fashionista pairs bourbon with Averna. That's Ocean Drive pricing, not a deal, but in line with the block. Through October 31 there's a Miami Spice menu, usually the better-value way to eat here.

Up on the roof, late

Palace opens daily at 11 am and stays open until 1 am Monday through Thursday and 2 am Friday through Sunday. The rooftop bar, with a pool bar, is the spot for an Ocean Drive view when you'd rather have a drink than a front-row show. Google also lists hookah. After dinner, evening drag shows and themed nights like Tacos, Tequila & Tiaras keep the room going. It works as a whole night in one building: brunch, roof, show. Just pace the $18 cocktails.

Reservations

Bachelorette parties have no group minimum, and groups of 20 or more can book a private event.
