Cubata
A Cuban and Spanish tapas spot on Calle Ocho where dinner rolls into Latin DJ sets and live music four nights a week.
Checado em outubro de 2026
Good for a group or a date that wants dinner and dancing at the same address, with cheap drinks if you arrive early. The trade-off: on music nights it's a party, not a quiet meal.
What to order
The kitchen splits the menu between Cuba and Spain, so you'll see Iberian cured meats, Spanish cheeses and bocatas next to Cuban classics. The house's most-ordered tapas lately are the octopus carpaccio, the beef carpaccio, the Sabor de la Costa and a Cuban chicken salad. Each week the chef also makes a secret tapa that isn't printed anywhere obvious, so ask your server what it is. Plates are built to share, which works best with three or four people ordering across the sea and land sections. Prices sit at $$, and the rating holds at 4.8 from about 1,800 Google reviews.
Happy hour math
Every alcoholic drink is half off from 4 to 8 pm daily: cocktails, wine and beer. On Thursdays the deal runs from 4 pm until close, which lines up with the Latin DJ night. That makes Thursday the cheapest night to stay late. The signature drink is El Fuego de la Ocho, aged rum shaken with passion fruit, lime, tajín and honey, finished with a chili kick and a flamed orange peel. It's smoky and a little sweet. If you're there mainly to drink, show up before 8 and order the tapas alongside.
When the music starts
Thursday brings a Latin DJ from 4 pm to close. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Afromore live music and DJ night starts at 9 pm. Thursday through Saturday the doors stay open until 2 am; Sunday closes at 11 pm. Monday through Wednesday it's a regular restaurant open 11 am to 10 pm, which is the move if you want to actually hear your table. A 9 pm Saturday seating is when dinner turns into dancing, so plan for noise and a crowd that isn't leaving soon. The room also takes private events.
Reservas
Reserve ahead for Friday through Sunday nights, when the 9 pm music set fills the room.
Bom saber
Ask your server for the weekly secret tapa; it's not listed on the regular menu.
