For anyone who wants live jazz in the middle of Little Havana, with good reviews behind it. The catch: hours, lineups and prices aren't published, so you'll need to confirm before you go.

A jazz room on Calle Ocho

High Note sits in unit 106 at 1465 SW 8th St, on the Little Havana stretch of Calle Ocho. The name tells you the setup: a jazz club operating at Cuba Ocho. Google files it as a live music and event venue, so expect nights built around a set rather than a bar with a band in the corner. It holds a 4.5 from about 290 Google reviews, a solid score for a small music room where one off night shows up fast. We couldn't pull a lineup, a cover charge or a drinks list from its own sources, so treat those details as things to confirm.

Checking the schedule

There are no published hours for this one, and the website only loaded a redirect page when we checked. That matters more for a music venue than for a cafe: show nights, start times and any cover or ticket price can change week to week. Look up the current calendar or call before you head over, especially on a weeknight. Since it also books as an event venue, a private event could take the room on the night you planned to drop in.

Making a night of it

The address puts you on the main walking stretch of Calle Ocho, which makes it easy to build an evening around a set. Máximo Gómez Domino Park is a short walk away, and the street is full of Cuban counters and restaurants for dinner before the music or a cafecito after. It works for a date, and a solo seat at a jazz show is never awkward. Just keep the plan loose until you've confirmed the night's lineup.
