For first-timers who want a patient, safety-first start, and for riders chasing jumps or downwinders. The catch: it's wind-dependent and by appointment only, so plan around the forecast and leave room in your trip.
Picking a lesson
Three tracks are on offer. Kite 101 is a beginners-only group class, run on weekends for 4 to 6 people, with groups up to 15 by special request, good for friends, family or a team outing. The 1 on 1 private lesson starts with a ready-to-ride assessment and can run all the way to water starts, upwind riding and IKO Level 3 independent rider certification. Kite 501 is for people who already ride: jumps, transitions, ocean waves, self-rescue and gear advice. Equipment, including kite, harness, bar and board, is free to use as needed, so you don't have to buy anything to start.
The instructor everyone names
Read the reviews and one name keeps coming up: Harly, the IKO-certified instructor behind the school. People call him patient, meticulous and serious about safety, and several mention getting their first real ride within a lesson or two. One parent brought boys aged 10 and 12 and singled out the care around safety. It holds a 5.0 from about 56 Google reviews, which is a small sample but a spotless one. The site's own FAQ is blunt about the sport: the learning curve is steep, and board-sport or wakeboarding experience helps a lot.
Wind runs the schedule
Hours are 9:30 am to 6:30 pm Monday through Thursday and 10 am to 7 pm Friday through Sunday, but the wind has the final say. One reviewer rescheduled for better wind and was glad of it, and another wished they'd started lessons earlier in their Miami week. That's the useful lesson here: book early in your trip so a calm day doesn't wipe out your only shot. Beyond lessons, the school also arranges wakeboard cable park sessions, downwinders between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, and kite trips to places like Aruba, Colombia and Baja.

Bom saber
