A small city beach access at 46th Street in Mid Beach, by the big hotels and the beach path.

Mid Beach Park is a practical way onto the sand for people staying in Mid Beach, with the beach path running past; the trade-off is that it is a small access point with few facilities of its own.
Why you go
You come for a calmer slice of Miami Beach. The park gives access to the sand at 46th Street, next to the large Mid Beach hotels, and connects to the beach path that runs north and south behind the dunes. The beach here is wide and the crowd is mostly hotel guests and locals, much calmer than South Beach. It rates 4.6 from more than 1,400 Google reviews.
When to go
Google lists it as open 24 hours, but plan for daylight, since swimming is best when lifeguards are on duty. Early morning is quiet, with runners on the path. Midday fills with guests from the hotels nearby. Late afternoon the towers shade the beach early, which keeps it cooler in summer. Weekdays are calm all day.
Know before you go
Parking is metered on the street and in city lots nearby; it is easier than South Beach but still fills on weekends. Bring your own chair, shade and water, or rent from the hotel concessions on the sand. The boardwalk path here is good for a walk south toward Collins Park. North Beach Oceanside Park is further up Collins Avenue if you want lawns and a playground.
