Versailles is less a restaurant than an institution: Cuban classics in a mirrored, chandeliered dining room on Calle Ocho, a coffee window that never stops, and hours from 8 am to past midnight every day.

Why you go

Because you cannot say you did Little Havana without it. The dining room is big, bright and vintage, the menu is the Cuban canon, and the walk-up window outside pours the coffee that has fueled the neighborhood's arguments for decades. Politicians stop here; so do grandmothers; so should you.

When to go

Breakfast or late. It opens at 8 am most days, 9 am on Sunday, and closes at midnight, 1 am on Friday and Saturday. Lunch is the crowd; dinner after 9 pm is calmer. The coffee window works any hour the place is open.
