  • Small airboat, tribal land: Buffalo Tiger's, 50-minute ride, $50 for ages 13 and up, closed Tuesday.
  • Classic stop near Miami: Coopertown, 22700 SW 8th St, about 45 minutes west of downtown.
  • No airboat, real park: Shark Valley tram, two hours, $36 adults plus $35 per car park fee.
  • Bay cruise: Miami Aqua Tours from Bayside, 1 hour 20 minutes, from $30.
  • Food tour: Miami Culinary Tours, Little Havana for $69.99, 5.0 from 18,629 reviews.

For an airboat, drive west on the Tamiami Trail in the morning and choose by boat size, not by the gator show: Buffalo Tiger's or a private boat at Coopertown beats a full 24-seater. Back in town, one Bayside cruise is enough, and the Little Havana food tour has the strongest Google record of any tour here.

How to choose an airboat tour

Almost every airboat tour near Miami leaves from the same road: SW 8th Street, the Tamiami Trail, running west out of the city, and the house numbers tell you the drive. Coopertown at 22700 and Gator Park at 24050 are about 45 minutes from downtown; Everglades Safari Park at 26700 and Buffalo Tiger's at 29701 are about an hour; Shark Valley at 36000 is the farthest. Add more time from Miami Beach. The Everglades Alligator Farm sits in Homestead instead, an hour or more south.

Then choose the boat. A group ride puts you on a big airboat with a crowd (Coopertown's largest seats 24) for 30 to 50 minutes. A private ride costs more and goes where the captain wants: Coopertown and Everglades Safari Park book private boats ahead, and Buffalo Tiger's arranges longer private trips by phone.

Last, whose land you ride on. Coopertown and Everglades Safari Park run into Everglades National Park. Buffalo Tiger's runs on Miccosukee land with a Miccosukee perspective and no park entrance fee. Shark Valley is inside the national park, but it is a tram, not an airboat, and the park charges $35 per car on top of the ticket. Whichever you pick, go December to April and go in the morning: cooler air, fewer mosquitoes, more wildlife near the water.

Buffalo Tiger's

29701 SW 8th St, Miccosukee land · Открыто до 5 pm

The quieter airboat stop. Rides go through sawgrass on Miccosukee tribal land, and the guide talks about the Everglades and the Miccosukee people instead of running a show. The standard ride is about 50 minutes, longer than the general admission rides at the big parks, and because it is tribal land there is no national park fee.

The operator lists $50 for ages 13 and up and $27.50 for kids 4 to 12, kids 3 and under free, with a discount online. Open 9 am to 5 pm with the last ride at 4 pm, closed Tuesday. Walk-ins are first come, first served, but call ahead. It is about an hour from downtown and rates 4.8 from more than seventeen hundred reviews.

Coopertown

22700 SW 8th St · Открыто до 5 pm

The old roadside stop, run by the Kennon family, who descend from the Coopers. The ride covers about 5 miles of sawgrass and hardwood hammock into Everglades National Park and stops at alligator holes to look for gators, herons, turtles and snail kites. Back at the dock, the restaurant serves frog legs, gator tail and catfish.

It is one of the two closest stops, about 45 minutes west of downtown, and that is why the tour buses come. The largest airboat seats 24; ask for a private ride on a smaller boat if you want quiet. Open 9 am to 5 pm daily, 4.3 from more than five thousand reviews. Prices are on their site. Ear protection is usually handed out.

Everglades Safari Park

26700 SW 8th St · Открыто до 5:30 pm

The full airboat park. General admission covers a 30 to 40 minute airboat ride into Everglades National Park, an alligator show, short nature trails and exhibits, and most families spend 2 to 3 hours. Private 40-minute tours go deeper with a captain to yourselves and need booking; general admission does not.

Open 9 am to 5:30 pm, last tour at 4 pm. It is about 15 miles past the Florida Turnpike, around an hour from downtown, and the park's own FAQ warns that getting a ride back is the hard part, so arrange your return before you go. Rides run in rain but stop for lightning. Kids must be at least 8 months old.

Gator Park

24050 SW 8th St · Открыто до 5 pm

One of the closest airboat parks to Miami on the Tamiami Trail, which makes it the easy pick when you only have half a day. You get a ride across the sawgrass and a live animal show with alligators as the main act, and you are back in the city for lunch.

Open 9 am to 5 pm daily and 4.4 from almost five thousand reviews, about 45 minutes west of downtown. Ride lengths, prices and show times are on their site rather than in our data, so check before you go. If you come by rideshare, sort out the ride back first: pickups out on the Trail can be slow.

Shark Valley Tram Tours

36000 SW 8th St, Everglades National Park · Открыто до 5 pm

The pick for people who want the real park and the animals without an engine behind their head. A naturalist narrates a two-hour tram ride along the Shark Valley loop, where alligators often lie right beside the road, and halfway you walk up a ramp to a 45-foot observation tower. You can also rent a bike and ride the 15-mile loop yourself.

Tram tickets are $36 for adults, $27 for seniors and $19 for kids 3 to 12, plus the national park fee of $35 per car; non-US residents 16 and up pay an extra fee from 2026, so check nps.gov. From 20 December to 30 April trams leave every hour from 9 am to 4 pm. In winter the lot fills and the entrance can close for a while, so come early.

Miami Aqua Tours

Bayside, 401 Biscayne Blvd · Downtown · Открыто до 9:30 pm

Every Bayside operator runs roughly the same loop past Star Island, Palm Island and the Venetian Islands, so pick on price, boat and time. Miami Aqua Tours lists the lowest price, the sightseeing tour from $30 for 1 hour 20 minutes, and runs the same route on El Loro, a pirate ship that hands out hats to kids.

Six departures a day. In the evening there is a 2-hour DJ party cruise on Friday and Saturday, and a night skyline cruise with an open bar from $45 that is 21 and over. It rates 4.8 from almost thirty-five hundred reviews. Bayside has paid garages, or ride the free Metromover to the Bayside stop.

Thriller

Bayside, 401 Biscayne Blvd · Downtown · Открыто до 8:15 pm

The fast version. A 45-minute speedboat slows for the Star Island and Fisher Island homes, then runs out into the Atlantic for a look back at the Art Deco district from offshore; the operator says no other Miami tour boat goes offshore. Expect wind and spray, and sit on the right side for the mansions, as reviewers suggest.

From $40, ages 3 and up, with $10 off the 10 am and 10:30 am departures, when the sea is often calmer too. A slower 45-minute Miami River tour runs at night past Brickell from $35. On windy winter days the ocean leg can get rough, and anyone who gets seasick should take a Bayside cruise instead.

Mizner's Dream

Miami Beach Marina, 390 Alton Rd · South Beach · Открыто до 7 pm

The one to book from a Miami Beach hotel. It leaves from Miami Beach Marina, not Bayside, caps the boat at about 25 guests and tells the story of Julia Tuttle, Henry Flagler and Carl Fisher on the way up the Miami River and past the islands. The celebrity homes still get pointed out.

The 2-hour sunset cruise sails out to Vizcaya with beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres included and is for ages 14 and up; the 1 1/2 hour daytime cruise is better for seeing the homes clearly. Prices are on their site and run higher than the big Bayside boats. It rates 4.9 from about four hundred reviews.

Miami Culinary Tours

Little Havana, South Beach, Wynwood · South Beach · Открыто до 7 pm

The strongest Google record of any tour in this guide: 5.0 from more than eighteen thousand reviews. You walk a neighborhood for about 2 1/2 hours, eat at several local spots and hear why they matter. Little Havana is the popular one; South Beach, Wynwood and the Design District have their own routes.

Little Havana and South Beach cost $69.99, Wynwood and the Design District $89.99. The tastings add up to a meal, so skip lunch. The address on Google, 1000 5th St, is the office; each tour meets in its own neighborhood, given in your booking. Morning or late-afternoon slots are easier in summer. Mention allergies when you book.

Official Art Deco Walking Tour

1001 Ocean Dr, South Beach · South Beach · Открыто до 5 pm

Two hours with the Miami Design Preservation League, the group behind saving the district. Guides walk about 1.5 miles through Art Deco, Mediterranean Revival and Miami Modern buildings and take you into hotel lobbies you would not walk into alone. Groups are capped at 20 and everyone gets a headset.

Adults 18 to 64 pay $50, seniors $40, youths 13 to 17 $35, and kids 12 and under go free. It starts at the Art Deco Welcome Center, 1001 Ocean Dr, runs every day, and a morning start is cooler and better for photos of the facades. Only 37 Google reviews, but 4.9. An app-based audio tour exists if you would rather walk alone.
