Because the history is real and the music is live. The original Ball & Chain hosted the big names of the 1930s to 1950s, and the revival keeps the spirit: salsa and Latin bands most nights, a dance floor that fills, and a back patio with a stage shaped like a pineapple. The food is Cuban and good enough to make it dinner.

When to go

It opens at 11 am daily, but the point is after 8 pm. Weekend nights run until 3 am and the dance floor is the show. Sunday afternoon has a more relaxed crowd and the music still plays.
