Why you go

Because it is on the water in a city where that is rarer than it should be. The place sits at Dinner Key marina with boats a few meters from the tables, open sides, and a menu of grilled fish, seafood, burgers and salads that matches the setting. It is busy and friendly rather than fancy.

When to go

Late afternoon into sunset, when the light is on the bay. Open 11:30 am to 10 pm Monday to Thursday, until midnight Friday, and from 10 am on weekends, closing at midnight Saturday and 9 pm Sunday. Weekend brunch from 10 am is popular.

Know before you go

Mid-priced for the Grove. The address is 3391 Pan American Drive, past Miami City Hall at the marina; there is a parking lot. From the Grove's main streets it is a ten-minute walk through Regatta Park.
