For sushi lovers who want omakase without a three-figure bill. The trade-off: no substitutions, an automatic 18% service charge, and a format that suits trusting eaters more than picky ones.

The sets to order

The OMA set is where most people land: an appetizer, sashimi, a run of nigiri from seasonal fish to bluefin, and a blue crab hand roll. It's $34 at lunch and $40 at dinner. The Deluxe adds albacore, a nigiri special and a negi-toro hand roll for $42 or $52. At the top sits the OMAKAI Experience, a 9-course tasting for $75. Smaller appetites get the OMA bite, and there's an OMA Vegan for $28. Ordering à la carte works too: hand rolls run $5 to $15, and two-piece nigiri goes from $7 for tamago to $20 for A5 wagyu.

Happy hour and late tables

Happy hour runs every day from 3 to 6:30 pm at this branch, with a short menu of fan-favorite nigiri and hand rolls plus sake, wine and beer. On a $$$ menu, that window is the cheapest way in. The room opens at noon daily and serves until 10:30 pm, or 11:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, so a late dinner after a walk around Wynwood is easy. The fine print

Read the bill before you tip. An 18% service charge is added to every check, and anything extra is up to you. Fish arrives in limited amounts daily, so the kitchen won't swap pieces in the sets except for shellfish allergies. They also say plainly that cross-contamination is possible and they don't recommend eating here with a severe allergy. Japanese uni, domestic uni and the specialty nigiri, like toro truffle or wagyu uni, are marked limited availability, so they may not be there every night. The bluefin is ranched in Baja California, if sourcing matters to you.
