Phillips Park opens at 6 am and closes at 6 pm, every day of the week, with no weekend exceptions. That schedule matters more than it sounds. In summer the sun stays up well past 7, but the closing time doesn't move, so an after-work visit gets squeezed fast. The better window is early. A 6 am start gets you outside before the heat builds and before most of the neighborhood is moving. On weekdays, a lunch break works too. Plan around the 6 pm close and you won't get caught out.

Who runs it

This is a City of Coral Gables park, one of more than 60 parks and open spaces managed by the Community Recreation Department. That's the same office behind the Venetian Pool and the War Memorial Youth Center. That has a practical upside. If something's broken, the department takes facility reports at 305-460-5600. If you want to host something here, the city handles park rentals, and special events need a permit through the same department. City programs, camps and activity sign-ups go through the department's PlayGables registration, not through the park itself.
