Swizzle is the South Beach bar for people who care what is in the glass: a long rum list, cocktails made properly, late hours every single night, and none of the Ocean Drive theater.

Why you go

Because most bars on this stretch sell the view and the volume, and Swizzle sells the drink. The list runs deep into rum, from the Caribbean to Latin America, and the bartenders know it. There is food if you need it, international small plates, but the point is the bar.

When to go

It opens at 7 pm and closes at 3 am, seven days a week. Before 10 pm you get a stool and a conversation; after midnight on Friday and Saturday it is full and loud in the good way. Sunday night is the local night.

$$ for South Beach, which means fair. The address is 1120 Collins Avenue, a block from the beach; a sister tiki bar operates from the same address earlier in the evening.
