The Wolfsonian-Florida International University
FIU's design museum in South Beach: propaganda posters, industrial design and furniture, free on Friday evenings.
Проверено ноябрь 2026 г.
The Wolfsonian is for design and history nerds and anyone who wants a smart hour off the beach. It is narrow in focus, so visitors expecting paintings may feel lost.
Propaganda and chairs
The museum explores the modern world through objects. Its collection, which the museum puts at more than 200,000 items, is strongest in political propaganda, industrial design, works on paper and furniture. Current shows include Foot Notes, about what shoes say about us, plus extended runs of Modern Design Across Borders and La Superba, on Genoa. An audio tour covers Harry Clarke's Geneva Window stained glass. It rates 4.5 from about 800 Google reviews.
Free Fridays
Adult tickets are $12, and seniors, students with ID and children 6 to 18 pay $8. Many people get in free: Florida residents, children under 6, members, active military and veterans, students and staff of the State University System, and visitors with disabilities plus one caregiver. Everyone gets in free on Fridays from 6 to 9 pm, the one late night of the week.
Days and parking
The museum is closed Monday and Tuesday, open 10 am to 6 pm Wednesday, Thursday and the weekend, and until 9 pm on Friday. The nearest city garage is on 12th Street between Washington and Pennsylvania Avenues, and there is metered parking along Washington. There is a design store on site, and events such as a mahjong night on November 6 run in the evenings.
