Bevor du gehst
- Most certified kosher restaurants close for Shabbat: Friday afternoon or evening through Saturday night
- Certified and kosher-style are different: some places use glatt kosher meat but open on Shabbat
- Kosher Miami, the Vaad HaKashrus of Miami-Dade, keeps a searchable directory by area and type
- Dairy places may be non-cholov Yisroel; the directory lets you filter for cholov Yisroel
- The kosher cluster is north: Surfside, Bay Harbor Islands, North Miami Beach and Aventura
- For Friday night or Saturday, look for a prepaid Shabbat meal and book it ahead
Certified or kosher-style: the difference matters
In Miami you will see three kinds of places described as kosher. Certified restaurants are supervised by an agency, usually Kosher Miami, the Vaad HaKashrus of Miami-Dade, and close for Shabbat and the major holidays. Kosher-style restaurants may use glatt kosher meat but open on Shabbat; the visitor bureau's April 2026 list puts Motek and Papi Steak in this group. And some restaurants are simply Israeli or Jewish deli in style with no certification at all.
If you keep kosher, use the Kosher Miami establishments page at koshermiami.org, which filters by area (Miami Beach, Surfside, Bal Harbour, Aventura, North Miami Beach and more), by type (meat, dairy, pareve, bakery, take-out) and by standards such as cholov Yisroel and pas Yisroel. Supervision changes, and a restaurant's page is not the final word.

Mutra: the Michelin star
Chef Raz Shabtai's Mutra earned a Michelin star in the 2026 Florida guide, and Michelin calls it the world's first kosher restaurant to do so. The food is Middle Eastern and hyperlocal: Michelin mentions beets with ajo blanco, lamb kebab with smoked aubergine cream and chicken a la Tunis, and recommends a seat at the chef's counter.
It is open Sunday to Thursday evenings only and books on Resy. It sits in a North Miami shopping center, so plan on a car or a ride from the beach.
More names on the visitor bureau's list
The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau's kosher list, updated April 27, 2026, also names La Matera, a wood-fired Argentine steakhouse in North Miami Beach; Fresko, a casual all-day spot in Aventura; Asiatiko, a robata-style Japanese steakhouse in Aventura; Rustiko, a mostly Italian bistro in Surfside open all day except the Sabbath; STREET Kitchen in Surfside; and Maison Ostrow, a French bistro in North Bay Village. We did not open their own pages, so check hours and supervision on the Kosher Miami directory.
For Shabbat the same list points to Ovo and Meat Bar inside The Altair hotel in Bay Harbor Islands, and to Silan in Miami Beach, which runs a prepaid, reservation-only Shabbat dinner.
