Crandon Park Beach on Key Biscayne: the toll, parking, cabanas and what else is in the park
What a day at Crandon Park Beach costs from the causeway toll to parking, what the calm Key Biscayne water is like and what else the park offers.
En corto
- Getting in: Rickenbacker toll $3.25 with SunPass, $6.50 by toll-by-plate.
- Parking: $7 plus tax Monday to Thursday, $10 plus tax Friday to Sunday.
- The beach: Two miles of calm water with a sandbar offshore.

Crandon is Miami's best calm-water family beach, and a weekday visit with SunPass costs $10.25 plus the tax on parking; bring everything you need, because glass, pets and floats stay home.
Lo que cuesta
For a two-axle car. The plaza charges traffic heading onto Virginia Key and Key Biscayne; the county lists only SunPass and toll-by-plate.
If your rental car bills toll-by-plate, the county adds a $2.50 monthly invoice fee; check your rental company's own toll terms too.
Per car. The lots hold just under 3,000 cars.
The weekend rate starts on Friday, not Saturday.
Cabanas sit under palms at the south end of the beach. The county page lists no price; call the park office.
Why people pick Crandon
Crandon Park is the Miami-Dade County beach park on Key Biscayne, across the Rickenbacker Causeway from Brickell. Its beach is two miles long, with calm water, a promenade, concession stands and picnic areas with tables and grills. The county describes the water as calm, with an offshore sandbar that shifts with the weather and currents.
That makes it the family pick, and the county's lifeguards work there 365 days a year from 8 am to 6 pm. Beach wheelchairs are available for people with limited mobility, and a beachside water sports concession runs kiteboarding rentals and lessons.
The county lists the main park office open daily 8 am to 5 pm. It does not give a separate closing time for the beach, so plan to be back at the car by sunset.
Rules that catch visitors out
Glass containers are not allowed anywhere in the park. Pets are banned too, except service animals, so a dog day needs a different beach. Flotation devices are banned in the bathing areas under the county code.
You cannot launch your own kayak or paddleboard from the beach. The county allows beach launches only through an EcoAdventures tour or the water sports concession; private boats and boards go in at the Crandon Park Marina.

Park in the lot nearest the stretch you want; the beach is long, and walking it with a cooler takes time.
