Chug's Diner
A Cuban-American diner that Michelin lists as a Bib Gourmand for 2026. It opens at 7:30 am every day and closes at 3 pm on Monday and Tuesday, 10 pm Wednesday to Saturday and 7 pm on Sunday.
The kitchen is known for sandwiches on Cuban bread, guava and cream cheese pastelitos and a shareable cast-iron skillet pancake. Reservations go through SevenRooms, which helps on weekend mornings.
Versailles Restaurant Cuban Cuisine
The big Calle Ocho institution opens at 8 am Monday to Saturday and 9 am on Sunday. The breakfast menu is classic Cuban diner: the Versailles Breakfast with eggs and two croquetas, steak and eggs, omelets and pancakes, served with potatoes or grits and toast.
Breakfast sandwiches include the Cuban, the medianoche and the Elena Ruz. The site does not publish prices.
Greenstreet Cafe
A long-running Grove café with a patio on Main Highway. It opens at 7 am every day; breakfast runs 7 am to 3 pm on weekdays and brunch 7 am to 3 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
It sits on the same stretch of Main Highway as Chug's, so if one has a wait, try the other.
Café Bastille Downtown Miami
A French café serving breakfast and brunch all day, with a second branch at 538 Washington Ave in South Beach. Listings agree that both open at 8 am; closing times range from 3:30 to 5 pm depending on the day and the listing.
Its own website failed to load with a certificate error when we checked, so confirm the hours on its Google or Toast page before a late start.

What a Miami breakfast looks like
The local breakfast is Cuban: a café con leche or a cortadito, buttered Cuban toast to dunk in it, a pastelito of guava or guava and cheese, and croquetas. You can have it standing at a ventanita in five minutes or sitting down at Versailles with eggs and grits.
Brunch is a separate weekend affair that usually starts later. If you want breakfast rather than brunch, go before 10 am on a weekday or use the counters above that open at 7 or 7:30 am.
