How paying works: ParkMobile, PayByPhone and garage tickets

The city lists two apps for meters and surface lots: ParkMobile and PayByPhone. You enter the zone number posted near your space, pick the time and pay from your phone. ParkMobile can send one reminder 15 minutes before your time runs out, and it also takes payment by phone call at 1-877-727-5714 if you do not want another app.

City garages work on a ticket at the gate. Keep it: a lost ticket costs the daily maximum, $20 in South Beach and $8 at 42nd Street.

Until October 31, 2026 the city runs a $1-an-hour promotion through ParkMobile only, with up to three discounted hours per session. After that, regular rates apply; check the city parking page for any new offer. Check the city's parking page before you assume it is back.

Residential zones and towing

Miami Beach has 19 residential parking permit zones. Those spaces are for permit holders, and parking in a restricted residential area is on the city's list of reasons for a tow, along with fire lanes, hydrants, crosswalks, sidewalks, bike lanes, disabled spaces, double parking and blocked driveways.

Since July 2026 registered residents get courtesy text warnings before a tow. Visitors do not, so a mistake usually means the truck. The city's maximum rates as of January 1, 2026: $282 for a standard car tow, plus a $150 administrative fee, a $34 city permit fee and a $5.15 fuel surcharge, before sales tax. Outside storage adds $46 for non-residents after the first six hours.

Towed cars go to Beach Towing, 1349 Dade Blvd, or to Tremont Towing, 1747 Bay Rd, for tows west of Alton Road. Look up your plate on the city's Was My Car Towed page (miamibeach.towbook.net). Only the owner or an authorized agent can collect the car, with photo ID matching the registration; in a rental car you also need the rental agreement and a letter from the rental company.

Event days and big weekends

The city does not publish a separate surge price on its rate pages. What changes on event days is the flat rate: $15 per car at the South Beach garages on weekend nights and event days, and at 5th & Alton from 11 pm to 6 am.

The garages around the Convention Center (17th Street, City Hall and Pennsylvania Avenue) fill first when there is a show on. Art Basel Miami Beach runs December 4 to 6, 2026; on days like that, arrive early or park at 42nd Street and take a rideshare the rest of the way.

Avant de partir

  • Download ParkMobile or PayByPhone before you arrive; signal in garages is not guaranteed
  • Note your zone number and the garage level when you park
  • Read the pole: time limits change block by block
  • Never park in a residents-only space, even for five minutes
  • Keep the garage ticket and a card handy; machines take no bills over $20
  • On Friday and Saturday nights, the $15 flat rate beats paying by the hour
