Space Miami dress code, and what to wear at LIV, E11EVEN and Miami's strict restaurants
What Club Space actually requires at the door, how LIV and E11EVEN differ, and which Brickell restaurants turn away shorts, caps and sliders.
En bref
- Club Space: Only two rules: wear a top, and sandals need a back strap. 21+, physical ID.
- LIV: Strictest: no shorts, sandals, hats or flats; men collared shirt and pants.
- E11EVEN: Upscale nightlife wear; no shorts, tank tops, caps, flip-flops or jerseys.
- Restaurants: Sexy Fish and Komodo in Brickell ban caps, tank tops and flip-flops.
- Bring: A physical photo ID; foreign visitors need a passport at LIV.
Space is the relaxed one: a top and strapped sandals get you past the dress rule, though not past the door staff's discretion. Everywhere else in this guide, dress as if shorts, caps and sliders do not exist after dark.

Club Space: the dress code is almost nothing
People search for Space's dress code expecting a list. There isn't much of one. The club's own FAQ asks for two things: a shirt or other top, and sandals with a back strap. That is the whole written dress code. Space is a techno and house club at 34 NE 11th Street in Downtown Miami, and the crowd dresses for a long night of dancing, not for a table.
The rules that matter more are about ID and conduct. Space is 21 and over, and you need a valid, physical, government-issued photo ID; photos of IDs are not accepted. Entry is at the door staff's discretion, even if you already hold a ticket. Tickets are sold only through DICE and are non-refundable, although DICE takes refund requests.
Two more house rules catch visitors. Professional cameras, flash photography and video recording are not allowed, and that includes phones. Smoking is only allowed outside in the area the club calls the Bull Pen; tell a doorman before you step out so you get a re-entry ticket.
Miami club dress codes side by side
| Club | Where | Written dress code | ID and age |
|---|---|---|---|
| Club Space | 34 NE 11th St, Downtown | A top is required; sandals must have a back strap | 21+; physical government photo ID; no photos of IDs |
| LIV | 4441 Collins Ave, Miami Beach (Fontainebleau) | No shorts, tank tops, sandals, flats for ladies or hats; men collared shirt and pants, women heels | 21+; physical ID; non-US residents must show a passport |
| E11EVEN | 29 NE 11th St, Downtown | Upscale nightlife attire; no oversized clothes, beachwear, tank tops, shorts, baseball caps, flip-flops or sports jerseys | 21+ |
Every club says the door has the final word, so a written code is the minimum, not a guarantee. LIV opens Thursday to Sunday, 11 pm to 5 am; E11EVEN calls itself open 24/7.

LIV and E11EVEN: dress up, and bring the right ID
LIV, inside the Fontainebleau at 4441 Collins Avenue, has the strictest written rules of the three. Its FAQ bans shorts, tank tops, sandals, flats for women and hats, and asks men for a collared shirt and pants and women for heels. The club's Miami page adds sleeveless shirts, very baggy clothing, flip-flops, dirty athletic sneakers, beachwear, jerseys and athletic wear to the no list.
The ID rule is the one that trips up foreign visitors. LIV accepts a US driver's license or a passport. If you are not a US resident, you must show a passport: a national ID card or a foreign driver's license is not accepted, and neither is a photo or digital copy.
E11EVEN, at 29 NE 11th Street, a few blocks from the Kaseya Center and on the same street as Space, asks for upscale, stylish nightlife attire. It bans oversized clothing, beachwear, tank tops, shorts, baseball caps, flip-flops and sports jerseys. Table prices are not published; the club sends you to tables@11miami.com.
Sexy Fish Miami
Sexy Fish publishes the longest list in town. Not allowed at any time: revealing clothing, beachwear, athletic sneakers and other sportswear, rubber or silicone shoes, flip-flops, sliders, baseball caps, hoodies, tank tops, muscle shirts, cargo pants, ripped jeans, mesh, and party accessories such as veils, crowns and sashes. Shorts are allowed at lunch but not after 5 pm.
Its FAQ also says all guests must be 21 or older after 7 pm, and that it only takes bookings with guests under 21 earlier in the day. Two of its age notes give different time windows, so confirm with the restaurant if you are bringing anyone under 21.
Komodo Miami
Komodo's contact page lists its dress code plainly: no athletic wear, no shorts or jean shorts, no athletic or beverage-branded baseball hats, no tank tops or cut-off sleeves, and no flip-flops or sandals.
That last rule matters for a beach town: sandals are out, even dressy ones, by the restaurant's own wording.
Sugar Rooftop
Sugar sits on the 40th floor of the EAST hotel in Brickell and opens at 4 pm every day, until 2 am Sunday to Wednesday and 3 am Thursday to Saturday.
Its dress code, as shown in search results from the hotel's own site, splits by time: smart casual is encouraged in the day, and nightlife attire is enforced after 6 pm, when the bar is 21 and over with a physical ID. The page we could open did not repeat the rule, so ask when you arrive early.
Où ils sont
Speakeasies and everywhere else
Red Phone Booth, the speakeasy at 1010 Brickell Avenue, blocked our fetch, so we can only report its rules as they appear in search results from its own pages: upscale business casual, no athletic wear, no flip-flops, no torn clothing, and 21 and over. You also need an entry code, which the bar does not publish.
Outside these places, Miami dresses down. Most beach restaurants and casual spots have no written code at all. The pattern is simple: the more a place sells tables, bottles or a view, the more likely it is to ban shorts, caps and sliders in the evening. When in doubt, check the venue's FAQ or booking page the day you go.
