For anyone who wants pool, a cheap beer and a taco in South Beach long after everything else has closed. The trade-off: it's a no-frills dive, and the menu is short.

Pool and pinball-era nostalgia

Billiard tables and vintage 80s video games are the whole pitch. Lost Weekend sits on Española Way, the strip of Mediterranean facades and restaurant hosts waving menus, and it's the cheap, unpolished counterweight to all of that. Google has it at 4.3 from about 1,400 reviews, a solid showing for a dive. TVs carry the games, and theme nights get mixed into the week, so the room shifts depending on what's on. It's run by Subculture, the Palm Beach bar group behind Respectable Street and, closer to home, Kill Your Idol in Miami Beach.

Tacos and craft beer

The bar calls its tacos the best, which is a claim every bar makes. Still, they're the thing to order off a short pub-grub menu. Craft beer is the other half of the deal, and the price level is a single dollar sign, which is rare on a block where a sangria pitcher can wreck your budget. You can also order online if you'd rather eat back at the hotel. Don't expect a cocktail program or a long food list. This is cheap food between rounds of pool, not dinner.

Open until 5 am

On weekdays the doors open at 4 pm and stay open until 4 am. Friday runs to 5 am, Saturday goes from noon to 5 am, and Sunday from noon to 4 am. The weekend noon start makes it a fair place to catch an afternoon game out of the sun. Late night is the point of the place, though. If you want a pool table without waiting, earlier in the evening is your better bet.

The bar's website lists 4 pm to 4 am every day, but Google shows noon openings on weekends and a 5 am close on Friday and Saturday, so check before you plan around the edges.
