Miami Beach Botanical Garden
A free, roughly three-acre garden by the Convention Center with a Japanese bridge, koi pond and rare native Florida habitats.
Vérifié octobre 2026
Good for a quiet hour of shade between South Beach errands, and it costs nothing to enter. The trade-off: it's small, it closes at 5 pm, and it's shut on Mondays, so it's a stop, not a full day.
The red bridge and the koi
A red lacquered bridge over a still pond is the photo nearly everyone takes, in the Japanese Garden built to honor Miami Beach's sister city, Fujisawa. Stone pagoda lanterns, bamboo and a pink Powder Puff tree make it a spot for sitting, not rushing. Over in the Water Garden, you're allowed to feed the champion koi, and a resident green heron is often spotted hunting from a huge Victoria lily pad. The whole place is about three acres, so the point is to slow down rather than cover ground.
The native corners
Pine Rockland is the patch most people walk straight past, and it's the one worth a pause: one of South Florida's most endangered ecosystems, found nowhere else, with Dade County slash pine and wild coffee growing out of limestone. The Native Garden beside it mixes sabal palms, rare lignum vitae and several kinds of stoppers that pull in birds and pollinators. When the sun gets heavy, the Gumbo Limbo Courtyard is the most shaded place to rest. Scan the QR codes at Bridalveil Plaza for a self-guided tour.
Hours, events and parking
Admission is free, Tuesday through Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm, and the gates stay closed on Mondays. It holds 4.6 from about 3,700 Google reviews, which tracks for a free garden this close to the beach. The Great Lawn, roughly 5,000 square feet, hosts morning yoga, outdoor movie nights and concerts, so check the garden's calendar before you pick a day. For parking, head to the Convention Center Garage rooftop on the fourth floor, where validated spots run $2 an hour.
