Soundscape Park
A landscaped lawn beside the New World Center where free symphony simulcasts and movies play on a 7,000-square-foot wall.
Vérifié octobre 2026
Good for anyone who wants classical music or a movie outdoors without paying for a ticket. On quiet days it's just a pleasant patch of lawn, so plan around the event calendar.
Concerts on the wall
The New World Center's 7,000-square-foot exterior wall is the screen here. On WALLCAST nights, the New World Symphony plays inside and the performance is projected live onto that wall, with serious audio carried across the park, so you hear the concert from the grass for free. It's a symphony night without the ticket price or the dress code. The 2026-27 series has its own calendar on the symphony's site, and you should check it before planning around a date. Live closed captions run for every WALLCAST concert through the NWS app. The 4.6 from about 1,100 Google reviews comes largely from people describing these nights.
Movies at eight
The SoundScape Cinema Series, presented by the City of Miami Beach, returns in October 2026 with recent blockbusters. Screenings start at 8 pm, rain or shine, unless the city notes otherwise, and they're free. Films are shown with English subtitles and captions where available, which helps when a breeze or a chatty neighbor swallows a line. Titles are subject to change, so don't promise the kids a specific movie until you've checked the city's arts and culture listings that week. The rain-or-shine rule cuts both ways: the show goes on, and so do you, wet or not.
Blanket and picnic
Bring a blanket and pack a picnic. That's the symphony's own advice, and it's the whole setup. The park is open 8 am to 9 pm every day, so on non-event days it works as a calm, landscaped lawn on 17th Street for an hour off your feet. During WALLCAST concerts, public restrooms are open in the southeast corner of the park. There's also a WALLCAST table where you can check in and join the email list for a chance to win a pair of tickets to an indoor New World Symphony concert. Arrive with time to claim your patch before the wall lights up.
Bon à savoir
Movies run rain or shine, so bring a poncho rather than an umbrella that blocks the view behind you.
