For a quiet island stay, a beach wedding or a serious tennis or padel weekend close to downtown. The trade-off is Ritz-Carlton pricing on everything, and the best perks sit behind room bookings or memberships.

Seven places to eat and drink

Seven bar and restaurant venues sit on the property, which is more range than most hotels bother with. Luma does Italian with indoor and outdoor oceanfront tables. Paralía leans Aegean, mixing Greek and Turkish coastal cooking with Florida seafood. Rum Bar sits in the lobby for cocktails, and Dune Beach Bar runs daily from 11 am to 11 pm, the easiest spot to drop into. Poolside, Stefano's turns out wood-fired pizza, Scoop serves Dolce Vita gelato and Pura Vida handles cold-pressed juices and lighter food. Prices aren't published in what we checked, so assume resort pricing and look at menus first.

Cliff Drysdale Racquet Garden

Eleven courts make the Cliff Drysdale Racquet Garden the most serious part of this resort for anyone who plays. It covers tennis, padel and paddleball, open to guests and members, with clinics and private lessons from the pro coaches. The padel court is the newer draw, built for working on lobs and wall shots. The spa runs whole-ingredient treatments, and its Lunar Glow evening pairs a CBD massage with Spa Sanctuary access and a private candlelit dinner in the Spa Garden. Court time, lessons and the signature spa packages are all reserved ahead rather than something to improvise.

Staying on the island

Key Biscayne is a five-mile barrier island, and the resort stretches along its beachfront, a short drive from downtown but far quieter. Rooms and suites were redesigned with nods to the island's mangroves and shoreline. Club-level guests get the 9th-floor lounge with food and drinks through the day. One package worth knowing: a private golf cart trip to Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park with a guided tour of Florida's oldest lighthouse, ending with a beach picnic back at the resort.
