The best sushi in Miami: starred counters, Coral Gables omakase and late-night rolls
Where to eat the best sushi in Miami: three Michelin-starred counters, the Coral Gables omakase cluster, a $$ nigiri bar and rolls until late.
The short version
- Best overall: Shingo in Coral Gables, a 14-seat Michelin-starred omakase counter.
- Coral Gables: Shingo, Elyu Omakase and Kojin 2.0, all within Ponce de Leon and Alhambra.
- Best value: Sushi Yasu Tanaka in the Design District's MIA Market, Michelin $$.

- Deal: Pubbelly Sushi: $12 rolls every Tuesday, happy hour 3 to 6 pm weekdays.
For the best sushi in Miami book a starred omakase counter, Shingo in Coral Gables first; for good nigiri without the ceremony go to Sushi Yasu Tanaka, and after midnight go to Moshi Moshi.
Editor's note
Miami sushi splits into three worlds that rarely overlap: tiny omakase counters where the chef decides and you book weeks out, glamorous Brickell rooms where the sushi comes with a DJ, and the neighborhood roll joints that stay open late. Decide which night you want before you pick a name. Every place below showed a working official or Michelin page in October 2026; we quote prices only where the restaurant publishes them.

Sushi in Coral Gables
Coral Gables has quietly become Miami's omakase district. Shingo sits in the historic La Palma building on Alhambra Circle: a 14-seat counter where chef Shingo Akikuni serves fish mostly sourced from Japan, and the only starred sushi in the Gables. Elyu Omakase on Ponce de Leon Boulevard is the newer counter, recommended by Michelin in 2026, with a run of snacks before the nigiri and a notable sake list.
Kojin 2.0 at 804 Ponce de Leon is the more flexible option: contemporary Japanese with a tasting menu or à la carte, open Wednesday to Saturday evenings plus Saturday lunch. If you only want a quick roll in the Gables, any of these is the wrong place; they are built for a sit-down evening.
The omakase rules nobody tells you
Counters seat a handful of people at fixed times, so arriving late can cost you courses: Ogawa says more than 15 minutes late may mean your seat is not honored. Dietary limits matter more than at a normal restaurant; Ogawa cannot do rice-free, fish-free or vegetarian meals and wants notice 72 hours ahead.
Bookings run through Tock or SevenRooms, which show each counter's cancellation terms before you pay or confirm. Hiden, in a hidden room in Wynwood, takes reservations only through its own system, and the visitor bureau describes a time-sensitive passcode to get in.
Sexy Fish Miami
A glamorous Asian restaurant built around sushi, sashimi and raw dishes, plus Wagyu, tempura and robata skewers.
The lunch set is $36, Monday to Saturday 12 to 4 pm, with a starter, sushi, a main and a sorbet. Sunday brunch starts at $78 a person. Happy hour is 4 to 7 pm weekdays and 5 to 7 pm Sunday.
Moshi Moshi Brickell
A casual Japanese spot with three Miami branches: Brickell, South Beach at 1448 Washington Ave and MiMo at 7232 Biscayne Blvd.
Its site says the food, sake and Japanese snacks are available until 5 am; it does not say whether that applies to every branch, so check the one you are heading to.
