Calle Ocho Festival 2027: the date, the streets, the closures and how to do the day
The Calle Ocho Music Festival is Sunday, March 14, 2027, from 11 am to 7 pm on SW 8th Street. Here are the blocks, the closures and the way in.
The short version
- When: Sunday, March 14, 2027, 11 am to 7 pm, per Carnaval Miami.
- Where: SW 8th Street from SW 12th to SW 27th Avenue: 15 blocks of Little Havana.
- Cost: Free entry; the 2027 VIP Passport is listed as coming soon, no price yet.
- Getting in: Calle Ocho closes from Saturday night; skip the car and walk in from a side street.
- Warm-up: Carnaval on the Mile in Coral Gables, March 6 and 7, 2027, also free.
Plan Calle Ocho as a Sunday street party on March 14, 2027: arrive near 11 am from the east end at SW 12th Avenue, leave the car at home, and be out before the 7 pm close when everyone heads for the same exits.
Hour by hour
- Saturday eveningThe streets start closing · In 2026 City of Miami police closed SW 22nd Avenue between SW 7th and SW 8th Streets at 6 pm on Saturday, then eastbound SW 8th Street from SW 27th to SW 13th Avenue at 9 pm. Expect the same pattern the night before the 2027 festival, and do not park on the route.
- Sunday morningGet close on foot · Come in from the east end, around SW 12th Avenue, or from a side street such as SW 7th or SW 9th Street, which stay open to local traffic only. Rideshare drivers cannot reach SW 8th Street itself, so set the drop-off a few blocks away.
- 11 amThe festival opens · Carnaval Miami lists 11 am to 7 pm. Music stages run along the 15 blocks, with international food, sampling sites and folkloric dance between them. The first hour is the easiest time to walk the whole route.
- MiddayThe Domino Park stretch · The blocks around SW 15th Avenue hold Domino Park, Ball & Chain and the Cubaocho gallery, so this is the part of Calle Ocho that feels most like Little Havana on any other day. Expect it to be the most crowded stretch by early afternoon.
- AfternoonDrift west · The route continues to SW 27th Avenue. Pick one stage for the headline act once the lineup is posted, and agree on a meeting corner: phones get slow when the street is full.
- 7 pmClose and exit · The official end is 7 pm; WLRN reported 11 am to 8 pm for 2026, so check the 2027 event guide. In 2026 all roads reopened by 5 am Monday, so the first hour after closing is slow for cars in every direction.
What the Calle Ocho festival is
The Calle Ocho Music Festival is the one-day finale of Carnaval Miami, run by the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana to benefit its foundation. It started in 1978, and Florida law names it, under its old title Calle Ocho-Open House 8, as an official festival of the state.
It is free, it is outdoors and it is mostly music, on stages spread across SW 8th Street, with international food, sampling sites and folkloric dancers in between. The organizers call it the largest Latin music festival in the country. Wikipedia's history of the event counts a world-record conga line in 1988 among its claims to fame.
In October 2026 the 2027 lineup, the event guide and the VIP Passport were all marked as coming soon on carnavalmiami.com. The date and hours are set; the rest arrives closer to March.

The Calle Ocho square where locals play dominoes and chess under a shelter, busiest on Sundays. On festival Sunday it sits in the middle of the action, between SW 14th and SW 15th Avenues.
Use it as your meeting point: everyone knows it, and it is easy to describe on a phone call over the noise.
BALL & CHAIN
The revived 1930s club with the pineapple stage is right on the festival route, a block west of Domino Park.
Check its own page for festival-day entry and hours before you plan around it.
Cubaocho Museum & Performing Arts Center
A Cuban art collection with a rum bar and a small stage, a few doors from Domino Park on the same block.
On a normal night it is a calm, cultured stop; on festival day treat it as a short break from the street, and check its hours for March 14 first.
