The short version

  • The short answer: Miami Beach discourages spring break; 2027 rules are not announced yet.
  • March 2026 parking: $40 to $100 flat at Art Deco garages; street parking $20 an hour.
  • Always banned: alcohol, smoking, glass, coolers, tents and inflatables on city beaches.
  • Bigger March 2027 draws: Miami Open from March 14, Calle Ocho March 14, Ultra March 26 to 28.

Come for March in Miami, not for a South Beach spring break: the city makes the Art Deco District expensive and tightly policed on peak weekends, while the Miami Open, Calle Ocho and Ultra give the month its real crowds.

Before you go

  • The 2027 rules are not out yet; the 2026 plan was announced on March 5, 2026.
  • On March 2026 weekends, Art Deco District garages charged $40 to $100 flat, and resident rates did not apply.
  • Street parking and lots in that district were $20 an hour, with a $100 daily maximum.
  • Alcohol, smoking, glass, coolers, inflatables, tents and tables are banned on Miami Beach's city beaches.
  • Package liquor stores in the Art Deco District closed at 8 pm in March 2026.
  • Rental golf carts, scooters and mopeds were suspended on the two peak weekends.
  • Free shuttles ran 24 hours from Thursday to Monday morning from three city garages.

Why Miami Beach does not want spring break

The City of Miami Beach treats March as a public safety problem rather than a party season. Its 2026 campaign invited visitors to wake up to a new March, filled the calendar with fitness events, and put the cost and the policing on the people who came to party in the Art Deco District around Ocean Drive.

The 2027 measures had not been announced when we checked in October 2026. The city's March 5, 2026 release is the best guide to what to expect: measures ran Thursday to Sunday every week in March, starting March 5, with the largest crowds expected on March 12 to 15 and March 19 to 22.

Getting around without a car

In March 2026 the city ran free 24-hour shuttles from Thursday at 5 am to Monday at 5 am, from three garages outside the Art Deco District: Fifth & Alton at 550 Lenox Avenue, Sunset Harbour at 1900 Bay Road, and the 42 Street Garage at 400 West 42 Street. They ran every 10 to 15 minutes at peak.

The free Miami Beach Trolley normally runs every day from 8 am to 11 pm, about every 20 minutes. In March 2026 the city extended it to 8 am to 1 am on the busiest Wednesday-to-Saturday stretches. Outside the Art Deco District, normal South Beach street parking is $4 an hour and city lots $2 an hour.
