South Pointe Park
01 · The best free hour in Miami Beach

South Pointe Park

1 Washington Ave, South Beach · South Beach

The park at the southern tip of Miami Beach is open daily from sunrise to sunset, with restrooms near the concession stand, beach access, a playground, a dog park, a water feature and outdoor fitness equipment, per the City of Miami Beach.

Come for the last hour of light: the cruise ships and boats run out through the channel right in front of you. Entry is free; parking is paid, so walk or take the free Miami Beach trolley.

Free concerts: the WALLCAST season

The best free thing in Miami this winter is a New World Symphony concert projected live onto the outside wall of the New World Center on Miami Beach, with the park in front as the audience. The 2026 to 2027 WALLCAST season has seven free concerts and no tickets: the Prokofiev violin program with James Ehnes on Saturday, November 21, Brahms 3 with Time for Three on December 12, a holiday program on December 19, Ravel and Stravinsky on January 30, 2027, Mahler 1 with Gabriela Montero on February 20, and a Gershwin, Adams and Connesson closer on May 1. Concerts start at 7:30 pm; the May 1 show starts at 8 pm.

The season opened with Beethoven 9 on October 10. Arrive early for a spot on the lawn, and check the New World Symphony site on the day in case weather moves a date.

02 · The free museum

Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami

61 NE 41st St, Design District · Design District · Chiuso oggi

Admission is free. The galleries open Wednesday to Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm and close on Monday and Tuesday. ICA recommends booking a free ticket online, because it can turn people away when the building reaches capacity.

Valet costs $5; the museum garage on 41st Street sits across from the entrance, and street parking takes PayByPhone.

03 · Free, and not one to rush

Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach

1933-1945 Meridian Ave, Miami Beach · South Beach

An outdoor memorial built around a giant bronze arm reaching from the ground. There is no charge to visit. Its own fact sheet, as returned by search, gives the hours as 10 am to sunset every day of the year; the county visitor bureau says 9:30 am, so plan on mid-morning.

Self-guided brochures are available at the memorial; group tours need two weeks' notice.

Dove sono

Free nights: Calle Ocho and Wynwood

Viernes Culturales, Cultural Fridays, takes over Calle Ocho on the last Friday of every month, from noon into the evening, between SW 14th and 17th Avenues. Admission is free; food, drinks and art are sold separately. The county visitor bureau lists the next two as October 30 and November 27, 2026, and a free walking tour led by historian Paul George leaves from the Tower Theater at 7 pm, with donations suggested.

Wynwood is free to walk at any hour: the murals on the streets around NW 2nd Avenue cost nothing, and only the curated Wynwood Walls charge. On the second Saturday of each month the neighborhood's Art Walk brings out galleries and crowds; the next two fall on November 14 and December 12, 2026. Wynwood Walls warns that traffic and parking get heavy that night, so come by rideshare.

Domino Park on Calle Ocho, where locals play dominoes and chess under a shelter, costs nothing to watch.

Free ways to get around

You can do most of this list without paying a fare. The Miami Beach trolley is free and runs four routes from 8 am to 11 pm every day. The City of Miami trolley is free on 13 mainland routes, including Wynwood, Little Havana and Coconut Grove, but does not cross to Miami Beach. The Metromover is a free elevated train through downtown, Omni and Brickell, daily from 5:30 am to 10 pm, and the cheapest skyline ride in town. Our Miami on a budget guide covers routes and fares.
