Kids Empire is a reliable air-conditioned play stop for ages 1 to 12, with two adults included per ticket; the trade-off is that it is in Doral, about 25 minutes from downtown, socks are required for everyone, and it gets loud on weekends.

Kids climb a multi-level soft play structure with slides, tunnels and obstacle sections, and ages 1 to 3 have their own toddler zone. Parents can play along or sit in the seating area. Being inside Dolphin Mall, near the movie theater and bowling, it fits easily into a shopping trip or a hot afternoon.

When to go

Google lists Monday to Thursday 10 am to 8 pm and Friday to Sunday 10 am to 10 pm. Weekday mornings are the quietest time, especially for toddlers.
