A first night in Brickell, hour by hour
Sunset from a rooftop, a Cuban dinner, a bar you need a code for, a second drink, and sushi at 2 am. One evening in Brickell with the times that make it work.

Resumo
- 6:30 pm: Sugar Rooftop for the sunset.
- 8 pm: Marabu for a wood-fired Cuban dinner, booked.
- 10 pm: Red Phone Booth, once you have the code.
- Midnight: Panamericano for the second drink, Tuesday to Saturday.
- After 1 am: Moshi Moshi, sushi until 5 am.
Brickell is a neighborhood of towers, so the night is vertical: start forty floors up, come down for dinner, and finish at street level with sushi at an hour that would be absurd anywhere else.

Red Phone Booth
Getting in is half the fun and the other half holds up. You step into a red London phone booth on Brickell Avenue, dial a code, and the wall opens into a dark room of leather, low light and people who feel pleased with themselves. The cocktails are classic and strong, there is a real dinner menu, and the cigar lounge is sealed off so you do not go home smelling like one.
The code: ask your hotel concierge, ask a friend who has been, or become a member. Do not try to talk your way past the booth; the whole point is that it does not work. Open until 1 am, 2 am on Friday and Saturday. Metromover Tenth Street station is 3 minutes on foot.
Marabu Restaurant
Most Cuban food in Miami is fast and cheap and wonderful, and sometimes you want the slow, dressed-up version. Marabu cooks over wood, so the lechón and the ropa vieja come with smoke, and the plates are built to share. The bar does the rum classics properly and the room has the kind of lighting that makes a date go well.
Dinner from seven. Weekends bring live music and a fuller room, so book a few days ahead. Weeknights are quieter and better for conversation. Open 11:30 am to 10 pm Sunday to Thursday, until 11 pm Friday and Saturday.
If Marabu is full, CVI.CHE 105 downtown is the other dinner that converts people: ceviche to share, lomo saltado, open until 10:30 pm most nights.
Moshi Moshi Brickell
At 2 am you want rice and raw fish, not pizza, and this is the place that has it. The menu is wide, rolls and nigiri and ramen and the fried things that make sense late, and the quality holds up better than it has any right to at that hour. During the day it is a regular neighborhood sushi spot with a lunch crowd.
The room gets a second life around 1 am when the bars let out, and it stays busy until the kitchen closes at 5 am, every day of the week. $$, fair portions, a short wait on weekend nights that moves.
