Best if regular coffee bothers your stomach or you want a calmer Brickell breakfast than the tower lobbies offer. The trade-off: it closes mid-afternoon, and the low-acid science is mostly the brand's own case.

The low-acid pitch

Puroast's whole identity is low-acid coffee. The company says it roasts slowly, using a method it learned from Venezuelan growers in the Andes, instead of the fast, hot flash roast most brands use. It cites studies claiming its coffee carries a fraction of the acid in regular beans. Treat that as the brand's argument, not settled fact. The practical upshot: if coffee usually gives you trouble, this is the Brickell café built around that problem. The company started in California around 1998, and this South Miami Avenue shop is its coffeehouse, the place to drink it brewed by the people who roast it.

Breakfast until closing

The kitchen serves breakfast and lunch all day, and the site calls out vegan and gluten-free options, which saves some guesswork if you eat around either. Google describes the room as chic and plantation-style, a quieter setting than most of the glass-tower coffee counters nearby. Prices sit at the single-dollar-sign level, so a weekday breakfast here won't do much damage. It holds a 4.5 from about 430 Google reviews, solid for a neighborhood spot. Doors open at 7 am daily and close at 3 pm on weekdays, 4 pm on weekends. Plan on mornings and early afternoons only.

Taking a bag home

Retail is half the business. Online, a 20-ounce bag of the Coffeehouse Blend, a popular pour at this café, costs $29.50, the same as the Coffeehouse French Roast and the Cold Brew Blend. The Bourbon Pecan flavored roast is $31.50 and the Coffeehouse Decaf is $38.50. That's steep per ounce next to supermarket coffee, and most of what you're paying for is the low-acid claim. Shipping is free on orders over $70. If you like the cup here, ask at the counter what's on the shelf before ordering online.
