You step into a red London phone booth on Brickell Avenue, dial a code, and the wall opens into a dark room of leather, low light and people who feel pleased with themselves. The cocktails are classic and strong, there's a real dinner menu, and the cigar lounge is sealed off so you don't go home smelling like one.

How to get the code

Ask your hotel concierge, ask a friend who's been, or bite the bullet and become a member. Don't try to talk your way past the booth; the whole point is that it doesn't work.
