The Underline, the park under the train

The Underline is a planned 10-mile park beneath the Metrorail tracks, from Brickell to Dadeland. The Brickell end is open: from the River Room by the Miami River south past the Urban Gym between SW 7th and 8th Streets, the Promenade and stage between 8th and 10th, and plazas at 11th and 12th to 13th Streets. Farther south are the Hammock Playground at SW 15th Road and the Vizcaya Station Plaza.

It is dog friendly along the whole route, and it has a free class calendar. In late October 2026 the listings show free mat Pilates at the Inter Stage on October 28 from 6 to 7 pm and free yoga at Vizcaya Station Plaza on Thursday, October 29, from 7 to 8 pm. A free Levitt concert runs Friday, October 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Two quiet places most visitors miss

The Miami Circle sits where the Miami River meets the bay, at 461 Brickell Avenue. It is a free public park, open 24 hours, managed by the city history museum. The circle itself stays buried to protect it, so what you see is a lawn, panels and the water; the audio tour explains why it matters.

Simpson Park, at 55 SW 17th Road, holds more than eight acres of tropical hardwood hammock, with over 162 plant species, at least 96 of them native. It opens daily from 8 am to 3 pm and does not allow dogs. It was closed from October 10 to October 26, 2026, for Halloween event preparations, so check the city page before you go. The free weekend nature walks are the best way in.
